I'm keen to introduce a course - is there a teacher in ... region I can talk to?
Great news that you are thinking about introducing psychology to your student, there is a lot of support out there for you to access. Regions - NZAPT is currently creating and facilitating local Network Hubs for schools who offer psychology in their schools. Click on the Network Hubs page to find your local schools. Facebook - another great source of support is Psychology NZ secondary schools Facebook group. This Facebook page is for all NZ psychology teachers to ask question, share useful resources and articles. NZAPT - you are always welcome to email NZAPT with any questions you may have and attend our annual conference in November.
How do I train to be a psych teacher?
Unfortunately there is currently no formal qualification to teach psychology in New Zealand. Teachers normally gain a teaching qualification in another area and then apply to teach psychology once they have gained their teaching qualification.

Where can I get work moderated?
You can post moderation requests on the Psychology NZ secondary school Facebook page. If you are a member of NZAPT, you can look on the membership page for the email addresses of school local to you that offer psychology.
How do I guide student when conducting research?
It is important to guide your students around the ethical considerations for conducting psychological research (see below), when they are planning their investigation. Check the ethical nature of their research before they conduct it.
What ethical guidelines should students follow when doing research?
Students in your course should be familiar with the NZ psychologist code of ethics http://www.psychologistsboard.org.nz/cms_show_download.php?id=235. Some teachers do start by teaching the BPS research ethical guidelines and apply them the the NZ psychologist code of ethics.
