Psych numbers exploding

Due to its engaging subject matter and numerous career pathways, psychology is one of the fastest growing NCEA subjects in secondary schools. In 2024, at level 2 there were 88 providers of NCEA Psychology and 3,725 students nationally were assessed in one or more achievement standards. These figures are comparable with subjects like Economics, Drama and Classical Studies who had very similar numbers.

 

In 2024, at level 3 there were 87 providers of NCEA Psychology and 2,693 students nationally were assessed in one or more achievement standards. These figures are comparable with Drama, Design and Accounting who had very similar numbers.
