Bay of Plenty Regional hui
We met in Term 1 (Thursday 20 March) and Term 2 (Thursday 5 June) to collaborate and share ideas. In Term 1, key discussions focused on Scholarship preparation—particularly cognitive psychology—and the potential for a regional university-led workshop. Teachers shared Level 3 approaches contexts (aggression, mental disorders, addiction), recommended theories (e.g. diathesis-stress, neuroplasticity), and emphasised evaluating approach interactions and societal impact. In Term 2, the focus shifted to academic integrity tools (AI, checkpoints, Exam.net), Scholarship planning for winter break, and preparations for the upcoming student hui (27 August). The region has been collaborating with Rebecca Sargisson from Waikato University, who delivered a lecture on learning to TBC and TCG. We are planning to attend a lecture on research at the university with all of our Scholarship students and have a chance for the scholarship students to connect with a planned university led workshop focused on critiquing research methods.
