We are absolutely delighted to announce that starting Semester Two 2024, Victoria University of Wellington Te Herenga Waka is offering students undertaking teacher training a direct psychology pathway into teaching. Yes, you read that right - psychology teachers no longer need to have a second teaching subject to enter teacher training at Victoria University. Though they can, of course, still train to teach combinations such as Psychology-English, Psychology-Science, Psychology-Social Studies. This change is super-significant for the NZAPT as we all know how hard it has been in the last few years to fill those psychology teaching vacancies. Psychology as a Scholarship subject in 2025We are thrilled to announce a significant development in the field of Psychology education: the introduction of Scholarship Psychology. This exciting addition not only enhances the credibility of Psychology as a subject but also opens doors for our students to excel and achieve success. NZQA recieved 60 submissions all in favour for adding Psychology to the list. Thankyou for taking the time to complete the submission process.
