Waikato Regional NZAPT Hui – Term 2 Reflection

On Tuesday 27 May, the Waikato region held its Term 2 NZAPT hui, bringing together kaiako from five different schools, each contributing a diverse range of valuable teaching experiences. This was our second hui of the year, and we took the opportunity to rotate hosting duties — this time being welcomed by Rototuna High School.
Rototuna provided a fantastic venue for our gathering. We were treated to a tour of their campus and had the chance to explore their modern learning environments, which sparked rich conversations about how physical spaces can support teaching and learning in Psychology.
The focus for our mahi during this hui was moderation and the sharing of fresh ideas for content and assessment tasks. It was an incredibly collaborative session where we discussed our current programmes, shared future plans, and offered constructive feedback to one another. This was especially valuable for those of us who are sole Psychology teachers in our kura, as it provided a rare opportunity to connect, reflect, and refine ideas alongside other passionate educators.
We're already looking forward to our Term 3 hui, which will be hosted at Sacred Heart Girls’ College. The whakawhanaungatanga and mana motuhake we are developing through these hui are invaluable — strengthening both our professional practice and our collective ako.
